Clubs at Compass Pointe

Avant Gardeners Club

We meet 6 times a year to share garden ideas, take garden related trips, and have guest speakers on a variety of garden related topics. For example, this spring we had a certified rosarian and a flower tower expert talk to us. In the fall we have one of the county extension agents coming and hope to an herb expert to come talk. Some future activities may include garden walks within Compass Pointe and plant swaps.

Biking
Bocce

It has been documented that Bocce was once played in Ancient Rome. It is now being played at Compass Pointe.

Bocce is played with eight large balls and one smaller target or object ball called a pallino. The game is played with two teams that can be comprised of one, two or four players on each team.
One point is given for each bocce ball that is closer to the pallino than the opposing team’s bocce balls. The game continues until a pre-determined point total is reached.

We encourage everyone who is interested in having a great time and meeting new neighbors while playing this fun game to join the members of the Bocce Club every Sunday on the Great Lawn in front of the Grand Lanai at 4:00 PM. This is LAWN BOCCE with five to ten games going on at the same time, advancing to a final game playing for a bottle of wine. Bring your Bocce sets if you have one as well as wine, beer and appetizers and become part of the fun. A one time Dues of $5.00 per person per season used to purchase some supplies and prizes is required.

Bowling Club

Compass Pointe Bowling Leagues meet weekly at Cardinal Lanes on Shipyard Boulevard. These are fun leagues and skill level is not important. We have two leagues, at 12:00 pm and 6:30 pm on Mondays. We bowl in the Fall and Spring, two 14 to 16- week sessions. We do not have leagues in the Summer.

Spring 2017 bowling will begin on January 23. We currently are re-establishing the leagues after the closing of Thunder Alley and have spaces available for existing and new members. Please contact us by January 9 if you would like to bowl in the upcoming season.
